30 cases of Dengue trigger concern in Barak Valley

Silchar, Nov 21: Barak Valley has been witnessing a sudden surge in cases of Dengue-afflicted persons over the past few days.

According to the district health department, till Tuesday as many as 30 positive of Dengue were recorded from across Barak Valley so far. Till Monday 14 such cases were from Cachar district.

Amidst the surge, death of a person who is suspected to be a victim of the vector borne disease from Vivekananda Road has heightened the worries to a great extent. Sources informed that the deceased person had returned from Haflong carrying the infection following he was treated upon.

However, the District Health Officials are allaying fears among the commoners saying situation is not at all alarming for the masses to be worried about.

Officials of the health department informed that fogging in the dengue-prone areas has been intensified. Also, people have been urged to keep their surroundings clean.
