Silchar, July 21 : 94 Covid positive cases were reported from Cachar district on Monday, Cachar District Media Expert Sumon Chodhury informed.
The official also informed that the rate at which the cases are increasing, there is need of more Covid care centers. “From tomorrow we have decided to keep patients at Borkhola Model Degree college, which has been converted to a make shift hospital. Around 300 patients can be accommodated there” the official said.
Sharing details of Covid patients, Choudhury said 37 are Assam Rifles jawan where as many among the rest came to SMCH with ILI and SARI symptoms and later tested positive.
Meanwhile, Health & Family Welfare MoS Pijush Hazarika visited the Silchar Medical College & Hospital on Monday and took stock of health facilities available in the Hospital. He also interacted with the doctors, staffs & patients and reviewed the COVID situation of Cachar District.
Later during a meeting at Cachar DC Office, the minister directed the administration to ruthlessly implement the wearing of masks and social distancing and to raise the levy of fine to Rs.1,000.
“It is only through wearing of masks and social distancing we can arrest further spread of COVID-19 pandemic is what he said. Towards this end, the civil and police administrations have to ruthlessly enforce it” a Cachar Administration release said.
