Sonai, Mar 4 : Aged businessman, Isak Ali Laskar, like every other day, closed his shop and borne bike to reach home. Resident of Dhanehari at Sonai, Laskar could not get this completed as he was ‘killed on spot’ by a speeding truck near Bazar Trijunction of Sonai town on Wednesday.
It was learnt that, Isak Ali was returning to his home after turning down shutter of his shop, located at Ferry Ghat. He was riding on a bike when suddenly a speeding truck hit him from the back. Due to the impact, Ali was dragged upto a small distance causing death on the spot.
According to an eye witness, the truck driver tried to flee away from the spot, after the accident, but could not succeed and was apprehended by the police.
Meanwhile, agitated locals, blocked the road demanding justice to the deceased. Piles of vehicles got accumulated on both side of the blockade neccesiating rushing of police forces to the spot.
Sonai MLA Aminul Haque Laskar along with executive magistrate Bikash Chhetri also ran to the spot to calm the protestors and open up the road blockade.
