Cachar police nab international arms dealer from Tripura

Silchar, Jan 7 : In a significant development, Cachar Police on Friday arrested two international arms dealers from Tripura’s Ramnathpur area in a special operation, officials said.

The two smugglers have been identified as  Sanjit Namo and Naresh Chakma.

It can be mentioned here that Cachar police on Dec 21 recovered an abandoned bag from a bus, that arrived at Silchar ISBT from Tripura’s Dharmanagar. The bag contained two pistols and 40 fresh bullets along with some other materials. Investigating the leads, police finally arrested the owner from Tripura on Friday.

Cachar Superintendent of Police, Numal Mahatta informed that the two pistols made in Nepal and Japan were brought to Silchar from Tripura to sell them to an arms dealer from Bangladesh.
