Dholai, Nov 9 : There are no signs of ending of the border flare up between Assam and Mizoram. Despite the deployment of Special Commando Force of Assam Police at the adjacent Khasia Punji LP School in Narsinghpur Block, the Mizoram is continuing the road construction work by installing excavators in the disputed land.
Mizoram is constructing the road by cutting down the hills next to Vairengte Autostand in Kolasib district. The construction work has reached Paglachhara of Assam. The locals of the village allege, Mizoram is forcibly occupying several plots in the area and Mizoram Police and IR Battalions are providing assistance to the Mizo men and women engaged in the work.
Locals have place ahead demand of setting up of a border outpost on behalf of Assam in the area. But even today BOP has not been set up. Meanwhile, DIG DJ Mukherjee, Additional SP Subrata Sen, Sonai Circle Officer Deepak Nath, Dhalai Police Station OC Sahab Uddin Barabhuiyan and Lailapur Patrol Post in-charge Saman Ali Maj visited the location to asses the ground situation, however no official comment could be obtained from the officials.
It can be mentioned here that tension escalated at the Assam-Mizoram border on Saturday after a suspected crude bomb was recovered near an under-construction site in Khulicherra area in Dholai. The bomb is yet to be disposed off.
