After 62 days, flight services resumed at Silchar Airport from Tuesday, after Spicejet flight SG8152 flown 44 passengers from Guwahati to Silchar.
Flight landed at Silchar airport around 1:56 pm from New Delhi via Guwahati carrying 44 passengers. Later they were screened at the health desk which was set up at the airport. After the completion of the screening process and collection of luggages, maintaining social distancing 30 passengers of Cachar District were taken to the quarantine center at National institute of technology Silchar where their swab sample were taken. The passengers of Karimganj and Hailakandi districts were taken to the respective district by bus amidst security where they will kept at the quarantine facilities.
In a bid to ensure smooth running of activities like screening of passengers and sanitisation, Cachar Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli visited the airport, accompanied by ADC Sumit Sattawan. DC took stock of the arrangements at the airport and held discussions with Airport Director PK Gorai and other officials regarding the facilities and expressed satisfaction over the developments. She hoped that cohesive efforts by everyone in the midst of COVID-19 shall help to minimize problems and make things better for the people arriving and departing from the airport.
It can be mentioned here that flights to & from Kolkata will resume from 28th May as Government of West Bengal did not agree for flight resumption till tomorrow.
