New flyover, Greenfield airport, GC University approved in Cabinet

Silchar, Nov 29 : For the first time in history of Barak Valley, Cabinet meeting was held in Silchar on Tuesday where several vital decisions were agreed upon.

Key decisions related to Barak Valley taken are –

  1. GC college to be upgraded into state University.
  2. Two Flyovers approved for Silchar (A) Ramnagar to Trunk road elevated flyover of length 4.10 km(Subjected to the approval of the demolition of heritage India Club). (B) Silchar Kalain road Shivbari Flyover.
  3. Capital point to Ranghirkhari flyover is under consideration
  4. 135 crore approved for  Silchar mini secretariat.
  5. Karimganj water supply schemes with 55 crore.
  6. Hailakandi water supply scheme with 56 crore.
  7. Badarpur water supply scheme with 24 crore.
  8. 100 bedded hospital for Lakhipur sub division.
  9. Two new degree model college at Binnakandi and Dholai
  10. One milk processing unit with 81 crore.
  11. 10 cr grant for district stadium Silchar and 5 cr each for Karimganj and Hailakandi.
  12. 200 bedded another Super sociality hospital with 227 cr.
  13. Karimganj medical college at Ratabari. 650 cr approved for it.
  14. Hailakandi district hospital MCH wing with 23 cr
  15. Silchar jail will be transferred to Lakhipur and a Botanical zone will be made on the freed up land.
  16. Proposal for Silchar Greenfield airport has been sent to Ministry of Civil Aviation.
  17. New circuit house at Hailakandi.
