Protest in Barak Valley against killing of Bajrang Dal activist

Silchar, Jan 11 : Leaders of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad South East zone claimed that there is Jihadi involvement behind the killing of the 16 year old Bajrang Dal activist Sambhu Koiri at Lowairpowa in Karimganj district on January 8.

Santanu Naik, president of VHP south east zone alongside secretary Swapan Suklabaidya, Gopal Bhattacharjee and others informed the press here on Tuesday that Koiri was returning from the three day camp of Bajrang Dal at Hailakandi when he was attacked and killed in a preplanned manner. They claimed that the incident is steered by Jihadi elements and demanded a thorough investigation. Interestingly, the VHP leaders also demanded capital punishment to the culprits while they appealed to the legal professionals not to defend the culprits. “There is an ambience of panic among the people in the area wherein the horrific incident took place as the miscreants are threatening of a possible repeat of the incident. We condemn the incident and demand capital punishment to be given to the accused.

“These incidents are no isolated events. Be it Karimganj or Karnataka or Uttar Pradesh or even at Rajasthan, cadres and activists of nationalist organizations are being targeted and killed in brutal fashion. The VHP will stage protest across various locations of Barak Valley on Wednesday to condemn the gruesome Jihadi act.” The VHP leaders demanded a compensation of at least Rs 50 lakh to the family of the deceased teenager.
