Rail restoration work underway on war footing; NFR plans to complete by 16th June

Silchar, June 14 : Rail restoration work  at damaged section of Badarpur Lumding section has reached about the last end after linking of tracks started from Saturday, sources informed.

Rail communication to Barak Valley and 3 states viz- Tripura, Mizoram and Manipur is disrupted since 1st June following sinkage of track at km 57/0-1 between Mupa & Maibang stations of hill section. Thereafter landslide also occurred at some other places, delaying the railway’s effort to reinstate the track.

Railway employees are working on war footing keeping 16th June has the target.

A slight diversion from the original track has been made in the damaged section, at which linking of track is underway.

“Restoration works are on war footing and we plan to complete it by 16th June, if weather stays favourable.” NF Railway PRO Nripen Bhattacharyya said.
