State Government gives “no objection” to Lockdown measures in Barak Valley

Silchar, Aug 23 : Assam Chief Secretary, Kumar Sanjay Krishna, on Sunday allowed the three districts of Barak valley to put in place certain restrictions to ensure strict compliance of COVID 19 protocols in the valley, which is seeing jump of case from last few days.

“It has been reported to me by the Deputy Commissioners of the three districts of Barak Valley, i.e., Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi of Assam that there are increased incidences of spread of COVID 19 cases in their respective jurisdictions. The respective Deputy Commissioners are also in favour of putting in place certain restrictions to ensure strict compliance of COVID 19 protocols” Chief Secretary wrote in the order.

“Having carefully examined the reports and opinions of the Deputy Commissioners, it has been decided that the State Government has no objection to the measures to be put in place by DDMAs of these three districts as deemed proper for ensuring prevention of further spread of COVID 19 between Wednesday, the 26′ August and Friday, the 4th September, 2020” the order further added.

However, he asked the District Disaster Management Authorities to ensure compliance of all directives issued by MHA including the latest one under D.0 No. 40-3/2020-DM-I(A) dated 22′ August,2020.

It can be mentioned here that Karimganj DC Anbamuthan MP yesterday first divulged the news of Lockdown during a live video at Facebook. He asked the citizens to pile up stuffs during the remaining days, before lockdown.
