Silchar, Oct 31: In an utterly tragic incident, two persons were spot dead in a head on collision between a truck carrying LPG cylinders and an auto.
Sources informed that the incident took place near Presidency College in Uttar Krishnapur area on Tuesday morning at around 7 am when Pravin Singh and his father were returning home after dropping a family member off at the Silchar Railway station. The truck carrying cylinders from Mizoram onwards Silchar collided with the auto resulting in the death of the father and his son.
Meanwhile, from the preliminary investigation Police found alcohol bottles kept inside some of the empty cylinders on the truck. Locals of the area have raised questions on the reckless driving and repetitive instances of road accidents.
Police have seized the truck and began an investigation into the case.
On the other hand, in another instance of collision between a Sumo van and a two-wheeler, two persons sustained grave injuries. Sources informed that the accident occurred at a place in the Kalain College road area on Tuesday morning. Locals rescued the injured persons and sent them to Kalain Hospital for treatment.
