Silchar, Feb 19 : Just in a gap of 3 hours after a tragic accident at Salchapra, on Friday morning, another accident at Silchar has shocked the people of Cachar. The accident took place at Ranghirkhari area, of the city when a speeding car lost control to run over two pedestrians, leaving them grievously injured.
The duo has been identified as Rupendra Das of Hailakandi Road and Ranibala Das of the Kathal Bhajantipur pt III and were rushed to Silchar Medical College by the locals.
According to the Ghungur Outpost’s version of the accident, the incident took place adjacent to the Rangirkhari petrol pump around 11:30 am, when the speeding Wagon R car hit a pedestrian and a woman standing in front of a roadside shop. The Wagon R didn’t stop there and went further ahead to hit an Alto car before stopping.
Due to the impact, the Wagon R car also received damages but the driver and its passengers survived unhurt.
Following the accident, the locals gathered at the spot and managed to detain the accused driver and was later handed over to the police.
Asha worker, Ranibala Das was rushed to hospital by her son Mithan Das, who had a safe escape from the accident. He took her mother to Silchar Medical College with the help of locals. Ashwini Das, the husband of the injured woman, said that there was a training at Sonai Primary Health Center and Ranibala Das was out of the house to take part there. “She suffered severe head and leg injuries, blood clots in his ears, and a broken knee. She has been admitted in an unconscious state and is under treatment” the husband said.
Another person injured in the incident, Rupendra Das, 65, a resident of Hailakandi Road. He was on his way to Rangirkhari area when the car hit him while he was walking on the road. He is also undergoing treatment in the surgery department of Silchar Medical College Hospital and his condition is also said to be critical.
