Karimganj, Feb 2 : Countering the BJP’s slogan of “BJP+ 100+”, the North Karimganj Congress MLA Kamalakhya Dey Purakayastha launched a scathing attack on the ruling party, on Monday, to claim the congress will win more than 10 seats from Barak Valley at upcoming election.
During a press conference, MLA Dey said that BJP’s claim of winning 12 seats in Barak Valley is totally a hoax and being spread just to fool voters. “From where they will win much of seats? During 2016 election there was no alliance between Congress and AIUDF, but this time the situation is else” Purkayastha told the reporters.
Asking the government, on why no Bengali organization was included for benefit of corpus Fund, MLA mentioned he raised the matter repeatedly at Assam Assembly but was of no benefit.
Noteworthy, the Assam government on Monday launched Bhasha Gourab scheme, under which the state government provided 21 Sahitya Sabhas (literary bodies) with a total of Rs 43 crore as contribution towards their corpus funds.
“The main aim of BJP leaders of this region is to collect money through syndicate and send it to Dispur for election funding. BJP uses Barak Valley as corridor for this” he mentioned.
“The people have changed their mind, and I can challenge Himanta Biswa Sarma that Congress will win 10 to 12 seats in Barak Valley” he added.
Projecting BJP’s tally to only 2 seats at Southern Assam, MLA Kamalakhya said that the BJP leaders are in trepidation over pre poll alliance of Congress and AIUDF. “That is why they are lining meetings after meetings at here. They are scared. You will not hear ‘100+’ anymore from BJP rather they have came down to 60-65” Dey concluded.
